Sak Yant Sukhumvit

The Meaning Behind the Ritual

More than a tattoo, Sak Yant is a traditional practice rooted in Thai spiritual beliefs, sacred symbolism, and generations of inherited knowledge.

At Sak Yant Sukhumvit, we preserve the traditional approach to Sak Yant, respecting the meaning behind each design and the rituals that accompany the experience.

  1. Offering flowers and incense with a member of our team before the ceremony

    Preparation

    A Moment of Intention

The ritual begins with the lighting of incense and the offering of traditional items to pay respect to the teachers, sacred beings, and spiritual lineage.

This moment allows you to settle your mind, set a clear intention, and approach the experience with respect and mindfulness.

  2. Five Lines Sak Yant being hand-poked with a traditional needle

    The Art

    Traditional Hand-Poked Sak Yant

Each Sak Yant is carefully hand-poked using a traditional technique passed down through generations.

Every line, symbol, and composition is created with care, focus, and respect for the sacred form and its meaning.

    The Blessing

    Sacred Ceremony

After the tattooing is completed, the ceremony may include sacred recitations, the sprinkling of holy water, and other traditional practices according to the lineage.

These rituals form an important part of the experience, connecting the tattoo with its spiritual and cultural significance.

  4. Gold leaf placed on a freshly finished Sak Yant
    04

    Completion

    Final Blessing and Respect

The ritual concludes with the application of gold leaf and a final chant to complete the ceremony.

You may then place your hands together in a wai to show respect. There is no need to walk backwards.
